How it all began

Larapinta Sport Horses' roots run deep.  The Arabian Horse Industry and our family have long been linked.  The first two grade mares were purchased and bred to Arab stallions in 1967.  In 1971, Sanndyland Arabians was started by my aunt, Mary Mosshammer, with the wonderful stallion Ara-Kni Sannsata (*Ansata Ibn Halima x Rossanne) heading the breeding program.

In 1977 when I was five, my mother, Sharon Jackson, and my aunt purchased property in Newcastle, OK, and our portion of the farm was named Trails End Arabians.  Ara-Kni Sannsata, "Sanndy" had produced several offspring by that time and all were proving to be extremely competitive as sporthorses in  Endurance and Competitive Trail.  Sanndy evetually came to live at Trail's End where his last foals were born.

In 1982 I began taking hunt seat lessons at a local hunter barn riding one of the Sanndy daughters.  I enjoyed the jumping and my mare took to it like a duck to water.  In 1984 I was introduced to the United States Pony Club and the sport of Eventing.  I was enthralled with the idea of 3-Day Eventing and thought this was the sport for me.  Our Arabians at that time were fairly small sized, but with top quality instructors, including Olympian Mike Huber, my mare's quality breeding and talent shown through.  I was encouraged to continue riding the Arabs.

In 1989 I found the stallion to replace Ara-Kni Sannsata ..... a weanling with three crosses to the immortal Ansata Ibn Halima, Sanndy's sire.  This young colt was Daalim el Nefous.  Daalim el Nefous, "Sammy," had the quality and soundness of limb to produce horses suited for the sport of eventing.

Larapinta Sport Horses was formed, at the Trail's End location, in the autumn of 1989 with some of its best horses being the sons and daughters of Ara-Kni Sannsata.  Now the many years of hard work in the sporting disciplines, sound breeding practices, and extensive knowledge shows through in the Larapinta Sport Horses of today.
